The CRL-100 PAC

Our Purpose

The purpose of CRL-100 is to help elect common sense mainstream Republicans. Over the past eight years, the Republican Party's track record in California has been dismal. The Republican Part in California has consistently lost the support of mainstream voters because too many unqualified right wing idealogues have represented our party in too many campaigns. Candidates who are out of step with the vast majority of California voters have repeatedly seized the job of representing us. These people do not share our values or those of most Californians. These candidates have poisoned the political atmosphere against us, convincing the California voting population that all Republicans are intolerant and determined to impose their social mores on the rest of us. The Far Right's destruction of the party must stop now!

"Early money is worth far more to a campaign than late money. CRL-100 is the moderate Republican organization that is know to be early and effective."

Tom Harman,
Assemblyman

CRL-100 recruits and encourages common sense Republicans to run for public office and to address real issues that affect real people like education, health, and transportation. CRL-100 gives money only to candidates who are openly pro-choice.

Not only is this the right thing to do, but pro-choice republican candidates are the only Republican candidates that can be competitive in most districts in California.

A Los Angeles Times poll, conducted in September of 1998, shows that the majority of California Republicans support Roe v. Wade. Among all California voters 60% favor Roe v. Wade and only 28% actually oppose it. A 1999 San Francisco Chronicle field poll shows that 2/3 of all California voters, and 60% of all Republican voters, want abortion laws to stay as they are.

"You can't win in the general if you don't make it out of the primary. CRL was there for me from the start."

Lyn Daucher,
Assemblywoman

In addition to ensuring that CRL-100 candidates support a woman's right to choose, your donation to CRL-100 will help ensure that the Republican nominees are the best our party has to offer. We are proud of all the candidates we have supported in the past and are determined to help elect more.

We cannot do much without your financial support. As the old saying goes, "money is the mother's milk of politics." We need your donation to elect the best candidates. We appreciate how hard you have worked for your money and we promise to spend it with the thought and care that you would take in choosing candidates to support.

Your Money at Work

"As much as we would like politics to be just about ideas, it is also about money. And early money is vital. CRL-100 is early money for moderate Republicans."

Jim Cunneen,
Former Assemblyman

There is a saying in business that one should not pour good money after bad money. Yet that is what many donors have been doing in California. Unelectable candidates keep emerging from the Republican primary.

Republican donors flood money into these losing campaigns - campaigns that cannot possibly succeed with some of the positions that these candidates take. In order for us to do well, we need quality candidates to emerge from the primary who understand the desires of the California voter.

CRL-100 carefully screens candidates early in the process so that we know that our candidates, if fully funded, can run effective campaigns and defeat the Democrats.

"The Committee of 100 has a strong record of picking winners early in a campaign. CRL-100 gave me money and encouragement at the time I needed it most."

Tricia Hunter,
Former Assemblywoman

We identify quality candidates between elections when the rest of the political establishment is not focused on politics. We believe that early money is most important and most effective because we are working when other candidates are inactive. With CRL-100 early support, our winning candidates can hit the ground running when the political season commences.

The first race for any office is the toughest for fundraising. Understanding this, CRL-100 tries to limit its gifts to fresh candidates making their first run for a particular office. Many donors will not donate money to a campaign unless the candidate has raised money from other sources. By making the first critical donation, CRL-100 seeks to end the vicious cycle where no one will donate until someone else donates. In other words, the money you donate to CRL-100 actually has a multiplier effect because it will loosen the purse strings of other donors.

"CRL's endorsement means a great deal to a candidate. And, they follow up with early money from their CRL-100 fund. Please help fill the fund's account so more candidates can benefit."

Becky Morgan,
Former State Senator

"CRL was the first Republican organization ever to endorse me, and gave my campaign a tremendous lift. They had the courage to do so in a primary, when it really mattered. I strongly support CRL's mission to represent the moderate, and the effective, in California's Republican spectrum."

Tom Campbell,
Former State Senator and Congressman

One other important point that we want to bring to your attention: all the money given to political candidates by CRL-100 is given in the form of a loan. If the candidate wins,he or she must pay the money back to help future candidates. Funds are recycled again and again to help other candidates struggling in their first election.Your donation will launch many mainstream candidates willing and able to carry the message of your view of the GOP.

We know that the Democrats fear our brand of Republican because our candidates are the ones most likely to defeat them. Please help us keep the Democrats awake at night by joining CRL-100 today!
